Drawn Tern Vessel
Preciousness and vulnerability are continuing themes in my work and help form the very nature of my glass pieces. I make them as lightweight and as thin as possible whilst ensuring a strong finished piece. My Skyform works capture the huge, continually changing sky scapes of these open spaces, whilst thinking of the many birds in these rural areas, hence the ‘egg’ forms of the skyscape.
This piece was an experiment in hand drawn detail. I do much more of this in my prep work but rarely makes it to the glass. It is graphite pencil with a light matt varnish. The glass is finished in my usual way of sandblasting and Danish oil.
Large kiln formed glass vessel approx 44cm long, 29cm wide and 16cm tall.
