This large piece was from a series of work inspired by working and travelling in Australia. The light hits the land differently than the northern hemisphere and the botanicals are wild, boldly patterned and coloured. I spent many hours in the botanical gardens in Boorloo, Narrm, Ngambri and Warrang (Perth, Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney) and found Banksias' everywhere. I've included some of my photos of my favourite Banksia.
The image of me holding the piece comes from Future Heritage at Decorex 2021 with Corrine Julius (I'm sorry I don't have a credit for the photographer but will look!)
Kiln formed glass vessel is approx. 43cm diameter and 19cm high.
